MILAGROS Mexican Shop - We work
with independent makers and small workshops to create quality hand made products,
combining both traditional techniques with contemporary design. Our products are
sourced from Mexico. MILAGROS Mexican glassware made from recycled glass.
Next time you throw away a bottle, a glass one that is, remember that you might
be depriving the world of another beautiful piece of brilliantly coloured glassware.
For in a small family run workshop in Mexico, a family of glass blowers, create
jugs, bowls and so on from just that: Pepsi bottles at the end of their reusable
life and other discarded glass objects are collected and melted down. The glass
is an evolving blend of Mexican sensibilities influenced by American and Scandinavian
design of the 20s, traditional techniques and designs commissioned by buyers.
The results are not for those who favour the symmetry of the production line.
The handmade pieces are imperfect in their beauty, an integral part of their individuality.
MILAGROS Mexican handmade ceramic tiles. These tiles are handmade and
measure 10.5cm x 10.5cm. The surface quality is not uniform but is vivid in colour
and texture, minor imperfections are an intrinsic part of the tile. The glaze
of the tiles has a slight crackle which can be enhanced with a choice of grout.
There is a choice of fifteen tiles, a single colour, a pattern or a melange
of tiles can be used. The tiles can be used in both traditional and contemporary
settings. Contact
us for details of samples and delivery... We also import and
sell skeleton figures, hand woven bags, oil cloth flower and fruit bags, wood
carvings from Oaxaca, ceramic pots, plastic basketery, niches, silver, amber,
talavera and dichroic jewellery, mirrors and mexican hot chocolate. Opening
Hours: Sundays 9.00am - 3.00pm or by appointment
